<td>Healthy skin is a sign of general overall health. Keeping your  skin healthy includes daily cleansing and sun protection. You can keep  your skin looking great for years by following these basic tips.</p>
<p>Protect yourself from the sun. Over exposure to the sun can give you age  spots, freckles and wrinkles, as well as dry, rough skin. Too much  exposure to the sun can also lead to skin cancer and other serious  conditions. Try to avoid exposure when the sun is the strongest &#8211;   between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. When you are out in the sun, wear clothing  that will provide coverage such as long-sleeved shirts and hats. Use  sunscreen!</p>
<p>Smoking contributes to poor skin, so if you can quit smoking! Smoking  will add wrinkles because it constricts the blood vessels in the skin.  Without good circulation, the skin is deprived of oxygen and nutrients.  Collagen and elastin in the skin are also damaged by smoking.</p>
<p>While daily washing is a good thing, make sure it is a gentle cleansing.  Avoid soaps that can strip the oils from your skin. While we all enjoy  long hot showers or baths, these too will affect the oils in the skin,  so use warm &#8211; not hot &#8211; water.</p>
<p>Use shaving cream or gel when shaving and use a sharp razor. This will  help protect your skin. After washing or bathing, don&#8217;t rub your skin,  rather pat it dry. This will allow some of the moisture to remain on  the skin. Use a moisturizer every day to help keep your skin healthy and  soft.</p>
<p>Eating a healthy diet contributes to good skin. In particular, make sure  you eat lots of whole grains, vegetables, fruits and lean proteins.  Some research indicates that diets low in fats and carbs that also  contain vitamin C can keep the skin looking young.</td>
